Whittle Springs Golf Course

Everyone wants to give bad ratings but nobody wants to pay the $50-$90 tee times at other courses!! Whittle is the most affordable course in Knoxville, and in very fair condition for the value. Love this course.

Course Quality- 1, I ain’t gonna lie; the ground is hard as a rock. The fairways are hard. The rough is almost more playable, because the grass is at least some cushion. There are copious amounts of dirt patches, and the dirt patches are as hard as a rock. The greens are very very very fast, but not in a quality way. They are just as hard as a rock. It is like putting on carpet, but the carpet is uneven. Also, the tee boxes are bad and a quarter of them are out of commission. They just have mats on them. Course Playability- 3.5, it is fun. The course is 18 holes, and they are all pretty solid. They had some tee boxes moved around, but that’s whatever. I will say the course is slightly confusing to navigate, but the signs make it fairly easy. Cart Quality- 3, slightly above average. The carts brakes weren’t great but did their job. They are not anything fancy, but they are good. Customer Service- 4.5, it was good. It was very short and to the point, which I am happy with. I would not recommend playing here for a while. The tee boxes being out of commission on some of the holes is an inconvenience, and the grounds being rock solid is tough to play on. I am sure these things will imp

We just played All 18, Course was hard as a rock even on the tee boxes , The par 3.'s are mat only and are a not forgiving at all to play from . Imagine cheap turf carpet laid over hard packed Clay . Also there was no mention of punched greens in the clubhouse nor a lower price offered , The Cheap hot dogs an beer only make up for so much . The staff was friendly and had multiple bathroom options which is great when the group in front takes 30 minutes to play a par 3 . I don't Think it was a timing thing or because we played Friday that effected the conditions of play or grounds keeping as there was a crew spraying and doing upkeep the almost entire 4 hours we was there on sight . The green die paint they would sneak in and spray between holes does make the greens easier to see from 400 yards away so that was a plus . The unsupervised kids doing doughnuts in the fairways really take away from the potential of this course ( happened multiple times and the young lady answering phones made it clear it was not her problem ) . You can tell this at some point was a really nice course and would have been a delight to play . Personally would say play it at your own risk . The lay out is be

It is what it is…. It’s a public course thats cheap and you get what you pay for….. It’s hilly and the greens are to fast….The people working there are super nice and helpful… It has a self service driving range and you will understand when they explain it…

Tempted not to write a review so other people don’t find this place. *For the price* you cannot beat this course. - excellent tee boxes - smooth, quick greens and nice grass around the greens - fun elevation changes It isn’t a country club but they put their money where it matters on the tee boxes and greens. It makes for a really enjoyable experience even if the fairways aren’t in great shape on some holes. I’ll make that trade every day of the week at this price point. Will definitely be returning.
